The Last of Us oyununun yönetmeni, Red Dead Redemption 2 oyununu eleştirdi
The Last of Us ve Red Dead Redemption 2 isimli iki video oyunu da çıkış yaptığı dönemlerde çok sevilmişti. Bazı eleştirilere göre The Last of Us, oldukça klişe bir video oyunu idi ve bu yüzden hikaye oldukça sıkıcıydı. Bugün ise The Last of Us ve Uncharted 4: Bir Hırsızın Sonu oyunlarının yönetmeni olan Bruce Straley, Rockstar Games ekibine kendi eleştirisini gönderdi.
The game killed me when I tried to flank in that mission – like so many RDR2 story missions. They need me to do what the story requires & continually remove my choices. The env was open & I had the skills, but they punished me for thinking for myself instead of rewarding me. ☹️

Not giving you shit btw Matthew! Just reminding myself what I think the priority should be. I want to continue thinking of how to honor the mechanics & opportunities we’ve afforded the player – not wedging them into sequences I feel would be epic because of some story outcome.

Totally! But I’d argue removing player choice in order to achieve “epic stories” undermines the power of interactivity completely. So, it winds up NOT being epic, because I end up frustrated that the game just doesn’t trust me. Then I’m just ticking boxes to start cutscenes.
